Speaker Bio
Dr Rebecca Taylor is a Senior Lecturer in microbiology at the Department of Life Sciences, Manchester Metropolitan University. Following a PhD on the contamination of medical devices, she taught dental biosciences on the dental technology degree for 20 years. One of her main areas of interest is cross infection control in relation to dental technology and she has published a number of articles on this subject.

Infection Prevention in Relation to the Manufacture of Dental Devices
Aims
To provide delegates with an understanding of the potential routes of contamination that exist during the manufacture of dental devices and strategies to prevent infection.
Objectives
By the end of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the potential routes of disease transmission associated with the manufacture of dental devices
- Understand the transmission of infections and the viability of microorganisms outside of the human body
- Identify the techniques of disinfection and the types of work that could give rise to cross infection with the focus relating to the movement of items between the dental surgery and laboratory.

This training session is intended to create an understanding of the need to apply effective infection prevention and control measures in the dental setting and reduce potential risk factors to both patients and members of the dental team
