More information about the Speaker
James Neilson qualified as a Dental Technician at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1999, going on to obtain an honours degree in Dental Technology in 2000.
He started his career as a dental technician at a large multi-disciplinary laboratory in Dorset. During his time there, he held the roles of departmental manager for prosthetics and later became a company director. In 2007, James graduated from George Brown College (Toronto) in Denturism.
In 2008 he was awarded his diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) as a Clinical Dental Technician, and after gaining his qualification he worked for ten years an associate at BUPA Dental Care in Gillingham, Dorset. In 2018, James relocated to the midlands where he works as an associate CDT in two practices, one in Burton-upon-Trent and one in Walsall, one of which houses his laboratory.
James has been fortunate to have won a number of industry awards over the years and has also previously sat on the advisory board for the BACDT. He currently sits on the executive board for the Dental Laboratories Association (DLA) as Director for Policy & Politics and Finance and is also a part time lecturer in Dental Technology at Sheffield City College.
